Forga e-shop integration

The SmartMailer connection is part of the Forga e-shop rental, nothing to install. Forga sends customers and subscribers with valid consent one way into the SmartMailer address books you choose.

What the integration does

  • Sends contacts with explicit consent into address books by language and customer group. Optionally also newsletter-only subscribers without a customer account.
  • Forga decides about consent. When a customer withdraws consent, Forga removes them from the SmartMailer address book.
  • Orders, carts and purchase data are not sent, and campaigns are not controlled from Forga.

Step-by-step connection

    Prepare a separate SmartMailer account

    Forga requires a new account that has never held any contacts and that will serve only one Forga e-shop.

    Create empty address books

    In SmartMailer, create empty address books of the recipients type. Decide whether each language and customer group gets its own address book. Forga does not create them.

    Add a field for the unsubscribe link

    In every address book, add a text field with the slug FORGA_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL. Forga stores in it the link the customer uses to unsubscribe directly in the e-shop.

    Create an API token

    In SmartMailer, open Account settings > API tokens and click Generate. Keep the token in a password manager, do not send it by e-mail.

    Connect Forga

    In the Forga administration, open Settings > E-mailing > SmartMailer, paste the token and save. Forga then lists your address books: pick one for each language and customer group, enable the connection and confirm that the account is new and used only by this e-shop.

    Test the connection

    The Test connection button checks the token and the address books without writing anything to SmartMailer. Then create a test customer with consent and check them in the address book after the next sync.

What syncs

  • E-mail, first name, last name, language and a unique unsubscribe link in the FORGA_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL field.
  • Sync runs regularly in the background, not right after a customer is saved.
  • After consent is withdrawn, Forga removes only the contacts it added to the address book itself. Contacts added in other ways stay.

Use the Forga link in campaigns

Unsubscribing with the SmartMailer link does not change consent in Forga. Put the #FORGA_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL# link into every campaign so that unsubscribes reach the e-shop.
