Contacts from Shoptet
Shoptet has no direct connection to SmartMailer yet. You can still move customers and subscribers over in a few minutes: export them from Shoptet to CSV and import them into a SmartMailer address book.
How it works
- No app or add-on is installed. You move contacts by exporting and importing a file.
- You do not need to edit the Shoptet export in Excel. During the import, you choose an address book field for each column.
- You can repeat the import with a new export at any time. Contacts already in the address book are updated, new ones are added.
Step by step
-
1
Export contacts from Shoptet
In the Shoptet administration, open Customers > Export, choose CSV as the export type and leave the registration date empty to export all customers. Newsletter subscribers are exported in Marketing > Newsletters on the Export tab.
-
2
Choose whom you may e-mail
Import only contacts you may send commercial messages to. Newsletter subscribers who signed up themselves are the safest. Remove customers who refused or cancelled the newsletter from the file.
-
3
Open the import in SmartMailer
In the Address books menu, open an address book and click Import contacts. If you have none, create one. To bring over the phone or city too, add those fields to the address book first.
-
4
Choose the file and map the columns
After you choose the file, Column mapping appears. The email column is mapped to the e-mail automatically. Map the billingFullName column with the full name to First name. Leave the other columns on Do not import, or map them to the fields you added.
-
5
Run the import
Click Import. With thousands of contacts it can take several minutes. Afterwards you see how many contacts were added, how many were updated and which rows were not imported and why.
What gets imported
- Only the columns you map to address book fields. The e-mail is required, other columns can be skipped.
- Shoptet keeps the first and last name in one billingFullName column, so in SmartMailer the whole name ends up in one field.
- Importing the same contact again does not create a duplicate. The import finds it by e-mail and updates its details.
- Unsubscribes are not shared between Shoptet and SmartMailer. SmartMailer stops sending campaigns to whoever unsubscribes in SmartMailer, but Shoptet still lists them as a subscriber.
Better leave out old contacts
Customers who bought from you years ago and never received an e-mail from you often do not open the campaign or mark it as spam. That hurts the deliverability of all your e-mails.
